Tai Solarin DVC Released

Following the news on the kidnap of the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Tai Solarin University of Education, a reliable source has confirmed that the abducted Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olusoga Olusanya has been released.

Whether he escaped or was wilfully released could not be established. It will be recalled that four gunmen on Monday evening abducted the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, Prof. Olusoga Olusanya.

He was said to have been abducted by suspected kidnappers along the multiple bridge area, in Ososa, Odogbolu Local Government area of the state.

It was gathered that Olusanya was returning to Ijebu Ode from an official assignment at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, where he went as an external invigilator at the ongoing post-graduate examination before he was abducted on the way by gunmen.

The abduction also involved his driver, who was later dropped by the roadside at Odogbolu. The vice-chancellor, Prof. Oluyemisi Obilade could not be reached for comments on the matter. She did not pick calls made to her telephone by our correspondent neither did she acknowledge a text message sent to her.

It was gathered that as the news of the abduction of Olusanya forced the Senate of the institution to abruptly postpone the emergency meeting which was scheduled for Tuesday. Obilade, who was said to have arrived the school premises around 10. 40am, organised a prayer session with some members of staff, calling for God's intervention.
The state police spokesman in the state, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the abduction of Olusanya, but said crack detectives and the directorate of the state security service were jointly working to secure his release.
